Chez Scheme is a complete, highly reliable and efficient implementationof IEEE- and ANSI-standard Scheme, a general-purpose symbolic programminglanguage. Chez Scheme employs a fast incremental optimizing compiler thatgenerates efficient machine code "on the fly" for responsive interactiveprogram development. Chez Scheme offers many other advanced programdevelopment features, including a sophisticated foreign functioninterface, an interactive inspector that simplifies debugging, anadvanced syntactic extension (macro) facility, variable optimization andtype-checking levels, multitasking capabilities, high-speed arbitrary-precision arithmetic, complete support for rational and complexarithmetic, and user-programmable exception handlers. Because of itsefficient use of memory and sophisticated storage management system, ChezScheme performs well on applications of all sizes; memory images fromunder 4 MB up to system virtual memory limit are supported.
